Pakistan since its independence is still unstable, due to many reasons like terrorism, corruption, lack of patriotism, Poverty, lack of unity etc. we, the people of Pakistan especially young have to come forward to serve our country.

Many young people think that there is only one way to serve our country and that is to join any defence force, but that’s not true, there are many other ways by which you can play your role in serving Pakistan.

Let us take patriotism and poverty. Many poor people lack patriotism, and that may be because they don’t have time for it, I mean to say that they pass their whole time in earning some money to feed their family, so when do they show patriotism? And how can they serve the country? As W.C. Brann said, “No man can be a patriot on an empty stomach”. So our role in serving Pakistan is to provide them (poor) health, food, education and other old age security programs and then spread the awareness among them regarding our beloved country, make them feel proud being a Pakistani, tell them that our country is calling us, she needs us, and awake the sleeping patriotic in them.

We awaked few, they will awake more, and very soon our whole nation will be awaked and will come forward to defend Pakistan, to play their role in its development.

Build parking plazas!

The roads in most commercial areas of our cities are constantly clogged as there is no adequate parking arrangement, and therefore cars are parked on the roads, blocking lanes and causing traffic jams. It is shocking that so far, no city government has come up with a serious, viable plan to solve this problem. One solution, which has been successfully employed in large cities across the world, is the construction of parking plazas at strategic commercial locations. The city government can either outsource their construction and maintenance, or build them itself. Parking spots would be equipped with digital metres, which would charge by the hour. Thus these plazas, while reducing the chaos on the roads, will end up generating a handsome amount for the city’s exchequer. One hopes that the city managers and planners in Pakistan are alive to this possibility, because we need these plazas urgently!

Construction Of Flyovers: A Late But Good Move

Nowadays in Hyderabad the construction of flyovers is on the rise, currently four are under construction and one was completed last year which is now widely used by the people of Hyderabad. It’s a late but good move, because the traffic of Hyderabad is increasing day by day and traffic jams are now becoming a common happening in Hyderabad.

I have personally noticed two things which in my view should not happen. The first thing is that the government should complete one flyover first and then start the construction for the next flyover. There are two roads from Hyderabad main city which are going to Qasimabad and on both roads the construction of flyovers is in progress, due to which people have to face a lot of problem and most of the times people like me cancel their works which are to be done in Qasimabad just to ignore the pollution and traffic jam present at the sites of construction. Government must have completed one before starting second just to give the people a reciprocal route to carry on their works. I am not saying that the route is not available, route is available but it’s much polluted because of construction going on and it is broken from sides and some where from middle also, which troubles us a lot. The second thing is that the workers of political parties both national and regional have chalked the newly constructed flyovers, which is really a bad thing, because it not only ruins the charm and glory of our city but it leaves a feeling that we have got second hand or used flyovers.

I request the government to think on the idea of leaving a reciprocal route which must not be polluted or broken and I also request the educated workers of various parties that not to chalk the walls and flyovers as it hurts the beauty of our beloved city Hyderabad.

STOP EXECUTIONS

Amnesty International is running a campaign to end the executions, means they want a complete ban on death penalties, or we can say that they want the life time imprisonment, to be the top punishment in the law. Amnesty international says that the death penalty is the ultimate denial of human rights, this cruel killing of human beings by the state in the name of justice, should be banned completely.

Eighty eight percent of all known executions [2007] took place in five countries: China, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the USA. In 2007 more than 3000 were sentenced to death in 51 countries. Since 1977 more than two third of the countries in the world have abolished the death penalty in law or practice. Total number of countries who have abolished the death penalty is 137 and total number of retentionist countries is 60. Uzbekistan and Argentina are the only two countries who abolished in 2008. Pakistan is among the countries who is still sentencing death penalties, and Pakistan was on the 3rd number in 2007 in Executions.

Being common soft hearted persons, we want all the murderers to be hanged till death, but while thinking with broad mind, a question arises that, whether the person who has got death penalty was really a criminal or was an innocent? We are humans, and making mistake is in our nature, so it is possible that we can surely make mistake in judgment, and that mistake could end a life of an innocent. So to favor human rights we should support this campaign and should force our government to bring Pakistan in the list of those countries that have recently banned executions.

World Heart Day - September 28

“Know your risk” is the theme of this year’s World Heart Day, being observed on Sept 28. This day is a call to action, to help, to achieve the longer and better life, through prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension.

There are no obvious symptoms of high blood pressure, and the only way to know is to visit your healthcare professional for a checkup. That’s why this year’s World Heart Day will be urging people to ‘know your risk’.

The world’s No.1 enemy (heart disease and stroke) kills 17.5 million people each year. The figures given by researchers show that by 2025 more than 1.5 billion people will have high blood pressure.

To register a protest against the world’s No.1 killer (hypertension), we all have to take a significant step towards the prevention of our life being affected by hypertension. It is our lifestyle and culture which seems to be contributing to our risk of developing heart diseases and stroke.

Many of us are not aware of how to prevent a heart disease and this unawareness is one of the causes of its increasing risk. To prevent a heart disease and stroke, take regular exercise, say no to smoking, and have a healthier diet, low in salt and fat and rich in fibers, fresh vegetables and fruits.

We should unite to support the World Heart Day together and register an act to help the people by educating them about heart diseases and their prevention.

Why Pakistan is not progressing towards advancements? Its because Pakistan is suffering from large number of internal and external problems, [subcategorized as social, political and economic problems]. Internal problems are: Poor Education, Poverty and problems in government [Dictatorship]. External Implication [international concern] is the Excessive Growth. All the problems are connected with each other and their only solution is Education.

The greater loss which Pakistan is facing is in the area of Education. On examination of Pakistan’s overall literacy rate we come to know that only 37.8% are literate (50% for men and 24.4% for women), that means 61.2% are illiterate (50% male and 75.6% females). There are two causes of continuously decreasing literacy rate, (1) high population growth (2) No progress in the area of Education. Women are poorly educated about family planning and this has become the main reason for increased population and decreased literacy rate. Poorly educated population makes Pakistan a poor choice for the foreign investors that it so desperately needs.
Today, Pakistan is the 7th highest populated country in the world with the growth rate of 2.17, and it is predicated that by 2050 it will jump to the 3rd position. We can control the Excessive growth by education, awareness and by introducing some new laws, rules and regulations, like in china, where every couple is allowed to have only one baby.

Thus education is the only solution to the problems of Pakistan and to spread awareness, is the responsibility of every educated citizen.

15th September 2008 – The First International Day of Democracy

If we turn back the pages of History we will come to know that democracy have flourished, threatened, and re-emerged in many countries of the world. To acknowledge this universality of the principles of democracy, UN General Assembly has declared 15th September as the International Day of Democracy. This decision was made in the year 2007.
The word Democracy is used by almost all of us, but still many of us don’t know the meaning of Democracy. Today we are celebrating the international day of democracy, and I think it’s the right time to know about Democracy. The word, democracy, comes from two Greek words: demos, which means "the people," and kratein, which means "to rule". This "rule by the people" originated in the sixth century BC—and has been evolving ever since. When the United Nations established the International Day of Democracy, it noted that "while democracies share common features, there is no single model of democracy" and that "democracy does not belong to any country or region".
Pakistan’s first democratic leader was Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and then followed by many. It is said that Bhutto Family in Pakistan and Gandhi Family in India have lost their lives in fighting for Democracy. Nelson Mandela bought the Democratic Revolution in South Africa and Ang San Soki, the Democratic Leader of Myanmar is still locked up in jail for the sake of Democracy.

This universal day has bought some opportunities with it, I am mentioning few of it;

(1) Make contributions in raising the public awareness towards Democracy.
(2) Examine and discuss how well parliament performs its democratic functions.
(3) Identify what steps Parliament may take to strengthen its effectiveness.
(4) Fix the problems like, Corruption, Domination of any single sex, Public Apathy [Loss of Public Interest in Politics] and Tyranny of the Majority.
(5) Support Democracy to make it well equipped to deal with the current threats to Human Security [Environmental Degradation, Civil War and Terrorism].
(6) Help to Ensure the Fundamental [Basic] Freedoms and respect of Human Rights.

Take the above opportunities as a last chance and without wasting time, start dancing on it from today.

In a democracy, all the citizens [women and men] play an important role in political and civic life, We express our will through regular free and fair elections. In Pakistan people have expressed their will and now it’s the time to promote and protect human rights so that we all, no matter our race, gender, personal belief or style of life, can participate in formulating the laws and policies to which we are subject. Thank You.

FATWA ON ISLAMIC BANKING AND ISLAMIC TV CHANNELS: RIGHT OR WRONG ?

Pakistan also known as “Fort Of Islam” has once again succeeded in keeping the tradition of “Giving Unexpected & Strange Decisions” alive. The scholars of Islam have given fatwa in which Islamic banking and Islamic TV channels have been declared Haram or illegal [in Islam].

On one side some scholars are part of governing bodies of Islamic Banks and on the other side some scholars have declared it as Haram. To whom we follow in this regard, is getting difficult for us.

Regarding TV channels, scholars have said that they show the pictures of scholars [Aalims] and picture taking and showing is haram in islam, I totally agree with them, but there are some rules regarding pictures, which have been made clear by Dr. Zakir Naik in his debates & lectures and Sheikh Abd al-wahhab al-turayri [former professor of al-imam university Riyadh] has also thrown some light on the rules regarding pictures in islam. I would like to quote some of the rules which they have told us in their lectures.

Its written in Sahi Bhukari and Sahi Muslim [Books of Ahadees], that whoever paints or portraits the picture of any living thing [humans, animals, plants] by his hand, will be told at the day of judgment to give them life, to make them alive, and if you failed to do this, you will be punished.

Those pictures which are used by childrens to play and to learn are allowed in islam, and its proof is one hadith of Sahi Muslim and Sahi Bhukari, in which Hazrat Aisha [razi allah tallah anha] says that I use to play with dolls along with my friends in front of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], and He never stopped me.

Photography [by camera] is also not prohibited in islam, because the pictures taken out from camera are not made by hand, they are the reflections which we capture on paper, if this is prohibited then why we watch in Mirror ? that’s also the reflection. TV channels show the video, and video is nothing but just the pictures which are shown in speed i.e., 24 pictures per second and it looks like live scene.

Way of communication is changed now, there was a time when people use to walk from one city to other to post letters, but if we will do this thing now, we’ll be called fool, because we have the facility of automobiles, and we should use that. Today the best way of communication is Media [TV, Radio Fm], If our adults can copy the movie actors, to whom they watch on TV, if our womens can act and deliver same dialogues which they hear and see on Star Plus Serials, this proves that TV has got power to bring change in people. So if we will show Islamic Programs, Lectures and Debates of Famous Scholars, that surely can bring a change, not to all but atleast few muslims can become Good Muslims. By the help of TV we can tell the non muslims that what exactly ISLAM is, we can portray the correct image of ISLAM, we can prove all those people wrong who are spreading the wrong information in the name of Islam. Every invention has its benefits and disadvantages, but for the sake of some disadvantages we cannot stop using that invention, especially when we are getting a huge benefit from it.

Though our scholars are more educated than us but with sorry I want to say that the recent decision taken against Islamic TV Channels is wrong [In My View].

No Scope of Preventive Medicine in Pakistan?

The people of Pakistan are not happy with the type of treatment available in Pakistan, and they have been always demanding that replace this treatment with the one which is used in developed countries like USA and UK. I am a medical student, I was taking a class during which our professor told us that in Pakistan few doctors took the risk of doing a diploma course in Preventive Cardiology after completion of MBBS, by which they can reduce the number of diseased persons [Heart Diseases], reduce the chances of diseases [Heart Diseases], and our people welcomed their such step by not visiting their clinics, these doctors are called Preventive Cardiologists.

Few countable doctors of Pakistan did a diploma in preventive cardiology after MBBS, and became the preventive cardiologist. Till today you have heard the name of cardiologist but many of you might have heard the name of preventive cardiologist for the first time. Those doctors who treat the diseases of Heart [Cardiovascular diseases], are called Cardiologist and those who check the healthy persons and give them advices regarding prevention of Heart Diseases [Cardiovascular Diseases] are called Preventive Cardiologists.

In Pakistan very few have visited these Preventive Cardiologists to take advices, the response of our people have made these doctors to think that whether they had made a mistake by doing this diploma, or whether they had made a mistake by thinking to facilitate the people of Pakistan. In Pakistan, many facilities are absent, and among these absent facilities one is “Lack of Medical Awareness Programs”. Such programs are arranged in few Big Cities, but inspite of local uneducated people, doctors themselves were attending. This is wrong, although some doctors too need awareness but local people especially needs this.

We should arrange programs regarding knowledge and prevention of common and fatal diseases, how can we stay healthy, how can we prevent diseases, what’s good and what’s bad for our body, etc. If we can’t arrange this sort of programs in every city, then we should telecast such programs on air, so that every common people should see and understand the need of such knowledge.

I request the government to invest money in arrangement of Medical Awareness Programs, I request the Senior and Experienced doctors to take part in educating the people regarding health, and last but not the least I request the every common people, that please wherever you see such programs, do attend that, its our need. Don’t visit doctors only after illness, do visit them during healthiness to maintain it.
